7th June – St Bartholomew’s Fete – Newbury
35 cheerleaders from the Park House Club performed on Saturday at the St Bartholomew’s School food festival and fete. The weather was perfect for the day and cheerleaders from the Juniors and Seniors worked hard to demonstrate to the large audience what cheerleading involves. The squads gave two demonstrations during the afternoon, showcasing motions, jumps, cheer, dance and stunting. I was very pleased with the cheerleaders’ behaviour and it was great that so many parents had come down to see their children in action for the first time. There was plenty of food and fun at the fete to keep the cheerleaders entertained when they weren’t entertaining the audience themselves! Thank you to all cheerleaders and parents for making this a success.

31st May – Cheervision cartoon characters are here!
Watch out for the new cheer characters that are appearing on the website. There are plans for cheerleaders to have a cartoon to be drawn of themselves for a small charge. We will then be able to build up a cartoon squad list! The characters are hand drawn by  Tina Puaa at Kapolena Designs  in the USA. Thanks to her for some great work.

31st May – Burntwood School Squad pack bags @ Sainsbury’s Garrett Lane
Well done and thank you to the 7 cheerleaders who took part in Saturdays bag packing event at Sainsbury’s. With GCSE revision and half term holidays stopping all of the squad taking part, the smaller group of girls cheered, danced and stunted the morning away, cheering up and helping the Saturday-shoppers with their packing. The girls managed not to break anything this time and nothing fell down from the ceiling when they stunted! The customers were very generous and over £250.00 was raised from the event, which will be split between the squads competition fund and The Teenage Cancer Trust. The event raised awareness of the squad and several enquiries were made by potential cheerleaders. Well done everyone involved and thank you for giving up part of your weekend.

27th May – Downs School Half Term Cheerleading Workshop
17 cheerleaders took part in last Tuesdays workshop held at the Downs School, funded by the West Berkshire Sports Partnership. The day was unique in that participants came from the Park House High School Squad, Park House Club Juniors, Park House Club Seniors and The Downs School. The workshop included a new cheer, motions, dance, stunts and tumbling. New Cheervision tumble coach Gareth Green spent the afternoon with the group putting them through their paces! A short display to families and friends at the end of the day demonstrated how hard the group had worked and what they had learnt.
