20th September – Royal County of Berkshire Show
32 cheerleaders from Park House Cheervision, plus Kat from Willink Cheervision, performed in the Sports Zone Arena at the Berkshire County Show. The team, comprised of Pee Wees, Juniors, Seniors and High School cheerleaders all rehearsed the day before to put a special performance routine together. This was the first time that all four squads had performed in one routine and, and was a very special day. The two 30 minute slots were filled with lots of fun, cheers, jumps, stunts and routines – with the cheerleaders demonstrating just how far they have come in 18 months. The teams even got a couple of the lads from the Rugby Football Union, Andy and Dave, to join in with the action and they got Coach Gareth up to extension – no mean feat!
Another big thank you to everyone who gave up their weekend, including our cheer mums, cheer dads, and all our very loud supporters – what a great day it was!
12th September – Cheervision Pairs in Training
Cheervision decided to develop its first pairs team in the shape of my self and my flyer Kat from Willink Cheervision. We have now been actively training for 4 months and after an intensive summer programme, we are prepared and ready for competition in the winter season.
Kat and I train a minimum of twice a week in pairs cheer and manage to pack in 7 hours of training per week. As a base I go to the gym 4 days per week to condition and work on sports specific exercises and Kat trains with me every Sunday in the gym to develop power and strength. During the summer we have been training at Basingstoke and Wade gymnastics clubs on an intense programme and have had sports science and sports psychology input and coaching from renowned Saracens coach Clive Christopher.
Our thanks also go to Reading Superstars pairs team Pip and James who have been our training partners and friends to Cheervision. Our goals for the next year are to establish ourselves in the UK's top 3 pairs teams and to bring home to Cheervision some well earned silver wear and to promote cheerleading to boys and girls up and down the country.

23rd July – End of Term Party, Willink & Park House Cheervision
Over 7o cheerleaders, brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents got together to celebrate the end of the first full length cheer season for the Park House and Willink clubs with a party held at Park House School. The evening was a great way for cheerleaders from the sister clubs to start to get to know each other prior to meeting on the competition circuit! Traditional and not so traditional party games (!) were mixed with food, stunting, tumbling and arm wrestling (it was a very close match but Coach Gareth mustered just enough strength to beat Coach Paul in the first arm wrestling round). The cheer off was a highlight, led by Katie from Park House High School Squad and Greta from the Park House Seniors. Thank you to Coach Sarah and Paula for organising the evening and ensuring everyone had a great time, and thank you to everyone who attended.
3rd & 4th July – Future Cheer Internationals
What a great weekend! Well done to everyone for working so hard and for being great team players, the weekend was excellent and ran very smoothly for us. Our results were really very good and gave teams incentives to work even harder and rewarded teams for their dedication and commitment over the last term. Our most exciting result was taking 1st and 2nd place in Pee Wee level 1 (Park House and Burntwood Pee Wees respectively). To get over 300 spectators and 150 cheerleaders to the Brighton Centre on time, in kit, with hair, with make up, with smiles is no mean feat! Thank you to cheerleaders, parents, friends, helpers, Future Cheer staff – it was a REAL team effort.
25th & 26th July – BCA Internationals
The date was Saturday 25th July 2009, the time was 5am, the meeting point was Tooting Broadway Tube Station and the reason was.... BCA INTERNATIONAL CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIPS!
This was the school squads 3rd BCA Internationals, this time being held in Coventry. The competition is traditionally held over 3 days which for our squad involves one over night stay as we competed on the Saturday and Sunday, gaining a final score made up of scores from each day. The new venue in Coventry made for a very theatrical event which was a great progression for cheerleading. There was plenty of stiff competition in our division (Junior Level 2) but the team finished in a very formidable 3rd place at the end of Saturday. A cowboy themed meal in TGI Fridays on the Saturday night allowed the team to party ready for day two, with Jade Welds winning the prize for best dressed cowgirl! With a relatively large gap between Burntwood and 2nd place and a much smaller gap between Burntwood and 4th place, the focus on day 2 was about retaining 3rd place, picking up as many extra points as possible and not being knocked into 4th place. This the team did and finished the competition in a superb 3rd place! A tough competition considering last minute illnesses that resulted in 2 cheerleaders having to withdraw from the team in the week of the competition and major changes having to be made to the routine! WELL DONE GIRLS.
